Ultimate Beat – an ambitious attempt to tell the story of Ultimate Bet cheating scandal via documentary – is heading steadily toward a late-August release date.

That’s the word from filmmaker Scott Bell, who announced the new launch date in his most recent project update:

The takeaway is we are not finished yet. Partly due to the sheer amount of information […] Perhaps more salient are events partially driven by the proximity to the finish line. Over the last two months, I’ve spoken with several individuals directly involved in the situation. Most are unwilling to go on the record and on-camera is not even a thought for them, but there has still been an enormous information exchange. […]

This is good and bad because for every interview/exchange, we have to bring the facts back and run them through a grinder to determine how they fit with current knowledge and make decisions on whether they change anything. It is very demanding and difficult work but I believe we are closing in on something closer to the reality of what happened at UB.

Funding remains an issue

Bell also indicated that the project is running up against financial pressures. Check out the Ultimate Beat Kickstarter project if you’re interested in contributing to the completion of the film.
