BetMGM Offering Boosted Odds To Mobile Bettors Playing At Buffalo Wild Wings

BetMGM’s playing a long game.

Bets placed on BetMGM Sportsbook will have bigger payouts for fans located inside Buffalo Wild Wings establishments in the following states:

  • New Jersey
  • Indiana
  • Colorado
  • West Virgina
  • Tennessee
  • Iowa

BWW (or BW3s, colloquially) announced the promotion on Mar. 11.

Sports betting inside Buffalo Wild Wings

The partnership between BetMGM and BWW dates back to September 2019. The companies described it at the time as a “first-of-its-kind alignment between a national sports bar and a gaming leader.”

The plan was to offer exactly this sort of sports betting plus dining promotion nationwide, to the extent possible under state laws. A month later, BetRivers Sportsbook announced a similar partnership with the Wells Fargo Center, allowing Philadelphia Flyers fans to make sports bets while watching hockey.

Originally, the companies were aiming for a 2020 rollout. Naturally, the shutdown of sports leagues and restrictions on indoor dining put a damper on that plan.

However, while the pandemic reduced restaurant capacity in 2020, online betting soared. Online gambling grew 203 percent year-over-year through August 2020, reports TransUnion, despite a 39 percent downturn in overall gross gaming revenue.

BetMGM app coming soon to Google Play

During that time, more and more states legalized online betting. And as of March 1, Google allowed betting apps on Google Play. While BetMGM isn’t available there yet, BetMGM Sportsbook is No. 25 in the Sports category in the iOS App Store

But the slower Google Play debut may be doing BWW diners a favor indirectly, as BetMGM is also adding additional perks for new users. Anyone signing up for the sportsbook from Mar. 1 till the end of the year will get a free $20 BWW digital gift card as well as a full match on first deposits up to $500. Ordinarily, deposit matching (up to $1000) is only available for BetMGM Casino users, while those signing up through the sportsbook receive a free bet.

A new use of geolocation technology

BetMGM’s app, like all legal real money gambling apps, uses integrated geolocation technology to ensure players only bet from within an authorized state. The same technology allows it to offer these exclusive benefits to players betting from inside a BWW location.

“Boosted odds promotions offer a better potential payout for the same amount of risk on certain bets,” says BWW. “Now, Buffalo Wild Wings guests can gain bigger payouts if their boosted Blazin’ Bet wager wins.”

Blazin’ Bets are curated boosts, bets, and parlays offered within the BetMGM app as a result of the partnership.

Free-to-play BWW app gets an upgrade

Since 2019, BWW has featured a free-to-play sports prediction game called Picks and Props on its own app. Thanks to the partnership, it now provides “updated parlay-style gameplay with new BetMGM elements.”

Players can make picks daily, anywhere such games are permitted by law, which includes many states that don’t currently allow real money sports betting. The game uses odds provided by BetMGM and awards prizes on a monthly basis.Winners have a chance of being inducted into the BWW Hall of Fame, thereby receiving a $300 gift card, personalized bust, letterman jacket and a shoutout on Buffalo Wild Wings’ network.

The network in question broadcasts exclusively on big screens at BWW locations, streamed by digital media company UPshow. Yet another aspect of the partnership is this now includes OT Odds Powered by BetMGM. This show provides customers with live game odds, as well as sports betting and daily fantasy advice courtesy of BettingPros and FantasyPros respectively.

In order to win at Picks and Props, BWW app users must sign up for BWW’s loyalty program, Blazin’ Rewards.
