It just keeps getting odder.

Word leaked today that GBT apparently attempted to poach some top talent at FTP once it was clear the deal with the DOJ to purchase was off.

The plan, pitched to said Full Tilt employees as the DOJ deal was falling apart last week:  To take a dozen or two of the top FTP employees and launch an entirely new room.  As part of the pitch, GBT claimed they were in talks with regarding a partnership between PS and the to-be-formed GBT site.

Not so, says PokerStrategy:

We at frequently review partnership opportunities from a wide variety of pokerrooms with the ultimate goal of adding value for our users. Since the news that their deal fell through, our conversations with GBT have been limited and we are unaware of their actual plans for establishing a standalone site.

No word on what the status of Tapie’s plans are or how many – if any – employees took the bait.
