Here’s a look at what’s new in the world of NJ online poker sites, including the PokerStars live event this weekend at Resorts.

Also, the NJ Championship of Online Poker is underway. And an update to the Borgata app allows multitabling.

WSOP / 888

Major changes/announcements: Playing in the nightly and featured weekend tournaments from Oct. 1-15 will earn you seats to a slots tournament at Harrah’s in Atlantic City, where a $1 million prize is guaranteed.

New tournaments: None

Prize pool/structure changes: None

Upcoming online series: TBA

Good news/bad news: We have not heard from WSOP regarding its schedule or if it has any plans to bring back the nightly $10,000 guaranteed. Also, the website usually by this time of year has information regarding the Winter Online Series, but nothing is there.

Party / Borgata

Major changes/announcements: There is an October promotion of a bonus $215 in tournament dollars if you play all five of the Sunday $40,000 guaranteed tourneys at PartyPoker NJ / Borgata in the month. You get $100 tournament dollars for playing four, and $50 tournament dollars for playing three.

New tournaments: None

Prize pool/Structure changes: None

Upcoming online series: GSSS will take place Oct. 15-22, featuring $350,000 in guarantees. The schedule has been released and is online. The buy-ins range from $20 to $1,060, with guarantees of $5,000 to $100,000.

Good news/bad news: An update to the app has some big improvements. In addition to being able to play four tables at the same time, the bet slider bar is customizable and very nice to use. It’s also great timing with GSSS coming up.

Poker Stars

Major changes/announcements: None

New tournaments: This weekend features the second live offering from PokerStars in NJ since it re-entered the market.

It is a two-event mini-series featuring The Sunday Special Live, which is a $220/$100k guaranteed tourney running Oct. 6-8. There is also the Cheap and Deep event, which is a $120/$25k re-entry event. The series is being held at Resorts.

Online satellites into the $100k live event continue to run.

Prize pool/Structure changes: The Sunday $215 $50k was reduced to a $45k for the few weeks preceding NJCOOP.

Upcoming online series: NJCOOP has begun and is currently running through Oct. 16. The nightly buy-in range is $25 to $500 with guarantees of $10k to $80k.

Good news/bad news: The $100k main event this weekend has four starting flights on Friday and Saturday, with day 2 on Sunday. Having day 2 on Sunday will probably deter a decent number of good players from playing it since a Sunday online during NJCOOP is hard to miss.
